Florida Legal Size Limits

A permit is generally required if your load exceeds any of the following:

Maximum Legal Width

  • 8 feet 6 inches (102 inches)

Maximum Legal Height

  • 13 feet 6 inches

Maximum Legal Length

Single Vehicle

  • 40 feet

Semitrailer

  • 48 feet on most roads
  • Some routes allow longer trailers under specific conditions

Truck Tractor + Semitrailer Combination

  • No overall length limit on designated roads, but trailer limits still apply

Double Trailers

  • Subject to approved combination limits and routes
